Lynn Sykes and Pat Pagni have information about upcoming workshops and classes which have been announced at the guild meetings and in the newsletter.
The contact person for the Guild 2018 Quilt Challenge is Mali Glazer. The quilts will be due at the February 6, 2018 meeting. The theme is Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Specifications will be forthcoming.
The deadline for the July Newsletter is July 21, 2017.
Because our usual meeting is the 4th of July, the July meeting will be held Monday, July 10, at 6:30 PM. We will be having our annual garage sale and ice cream social. If you are interested in securing a table to sell items, please contact Kebra Wolfe.
Also, please bring an ice cream topping to share. Ice cream, bowls, spoons, etc. will be provided.
There will be no Show and Tell or Fat Quarter/Block Drawing at the meeting.
The February 7, 2017 Meeting is the Guild Quilt Challenge meeting. Bring your “Fun with Flags” quilts to the meeting. Contact Marion Sykes or Lynn Sykes with questions.
SMQ will be hosting a spring retreat. Please contact Lynn Sykes if you have questions.
Spring Retreat – Are you ready to have some fun? May 26 – 28th, SMQ will invade the Whistlestop Quilt Retreat in Sweetwater, TN. The cost will be $170 per person and we have room for 18 people to attend. We will begin accepting payments at the February meeting. If you have not seen pictures of the farmhouse, it is beautiful. It was built around 1860 and has 5 large bedrooms and 4 ½ bathrooms. Each of the twin beds are covered by a quilt made by a local quilter. There is a sewing room that gives 14 people their own sewing station, each with its own table, padded desk chair and trash can. Cutting tables with mats and rulers are available as well as a large custom ironing station with quality irons. Electrical outlets are located on top of each table for ease of use. There is also plenty of room in the parlor or the sunroom for the hand sewers in the guild. This is going to be a fun weekend, filled with games, laughter, good food, friendship and we might even sew a little. If you want to check out the farmhouse, visit http://www.whistlestopquiltretreat.com.
Contact Linda Mincher by January 21 if you have any items for the January newsletter. We welcome your articles on quilting, quilt store and book reviews, as well as for sale ads. Please make your ad short and succinct.
There is a supply list of several required items to bring to class. Pat Pagni is taking reservations. If you have questions, contact Pat.
