The Rosy Posy block is a free form raggedy edge cabbage row. A nice pattern is provided for a shapely flower.

9 1/2" finished block.
Scraps of "rose" colored fabrics" pinks, red, crimson, yellows, corals, light to medium. No solids. Mottled yellow for the center and green scraps for the leaves.
10" block of white on white, cream on white, cream on tan or very light pastel colors (no solids)
8" square Steam a Steam 2 (or bonding material of your choice).
Block Construction:
On the 8" square of Steam a Steam2, draw a 6-1/2" free form circle; within THAT circle, then draw a 4-1/2" free form circle; then draw a 2-1/2" free from circle; then draw a 1" free form circle. Mark the rings #1, #2, #3 and #4. Next draw two leaf patterns on the remaining areas of the paper. Without removing any paper, cut out each "ring" and set aside. Cut out the leaf shapes. Set aside.
Place the larges "ring" (#1) of Steam a Seam 2 on the wrong side of a 7" square of DARK "Rose" fabric. Secure lightly according to use instructions from Steam a Seam 2. Cut out on the outside of the free form circle.
DO NOT CUT OUT THE CENTER OF ANY OF THE RINGS.
Place the next "ring" (#2) on a 4-1/2" square of MEDIUM "Rose" fabric. Secure lightly according to use instructions from Steam a Seam 2. Cut out on the outside of the free form circle.
Place the next ring (#3) on a 3" square of LIGHT "Rose" fabric. Secure lightly according to use instructions from Steam a Seam 2. Cut out on the outside of the free form circle.
Place the remaining "ring" (#4) on a small scrap of yellow fabric. Secure lightly according to directions. Cut on the outside line of the free form circle.
Place the leaf shapes on a scrap of green "leafy" fabric. Secure lightly according to use instructions from Steam a Seam 2. Cut out on the outside of the leaf shape.
On the 10" background, layer the fabrics from the largest circle to the smallest circle, ending with the yellow center. When you are pleased with your arrangement, remove the extra paper from the circles and press each circle in place according to the the Steam a Seam 2 instructions. Before securing the first ring, remove the paper backing from the leaf shapes and tuck under the edge of the largest ring. Press to secure the "Posy">
Using complimentary colored threads, sew 1/4" from the edge of each circle, leaving a raw edge. Repeat on each leaf. You can use your fingernail to ruffle up the edges -- they will fray nicely if/when the quilt is washed.
Do not trim your block - let the winner do that.
Sign and date your block on the back of the raw edge appliqued Rose.
